Dawn light (with trees)
It is really quite easy to see why the dawn light can make a photo.
I actually had a dream about this photo, but I can't remember what I dreamt.

Weekend Sketching, Pt 2
A Nevada sketch...
A did a high desert drive this weekend- saw a train racing across the desert at night, a coyote checking out what was going on and the rosy dawn, with the accent of smoke to add strange colors.

Still Working on the Baroque
This is getting close to being done, a few little white areas that need to be fixed, and maybe that grass on the left side by the tree. Any thoughts by the sports fans?
Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend. I am!

Hatch Chili Post
We have to pause from regularly scheduled programming to have a Hatch chili moment. Hatch chile's only come in once a year for about a week, and they are something to look forward to every year. As a former Oregonian, I was afraid of chilis before I moved to Nevada but now I know and love them.
Although, my stomach is a bit sick of them... but you have to have a few a year, at least!

Smoke, Weird Light Continues
The weird light around here is really from some fires north of town.
To give you a perspective on how smokey it is here: a picture taken during a storm in July from here in Elko. You can just barely see a white "E" in the hill in the mid perspective on the left.
Then today. I'm standing in a spot close to the first picture, but don't have as good of a camera so I can't quite zoom the picture in as well.
The bump on the left, above the red barn, is the hill in town with an "E" on it. No Ruby Mountains visible at all.

Weird Light Part 2
Dawn sun, pinker than I can even show:
And then this evening, back to the strange filtered light:
This layout isn't remotely artistic, but I just had to keep it because of how weird it looked. Not sure if it comes across at all.

Sketching
A sketch that became a painting. It's calm to have about.
But really, I was so tired this weekend. There have been fires around the area and it's like the smoke took it out of me. I was able to cook and clean, an that's about it. I'm ready to start the work week at least.

Strange Thoughts
I somehow seem to be recording the lovely things in northern Nevada. I didn't realize that until just this moment, but as I mentioned at the beginning of the week, it seems that the more you seek beautiful things- the more you find them. What a lovely thought.
Russian River
I caught this moment over the Russian river- just the light peaking through and overwhelming the camera. An allegory, in real life.

Painting a bit
It was one of those weekends where I didn't get too much done, just hung out and painted and messed around. It was a recovery weekend, to be relaxed and ready for the week.
The question at times is how to keep that calm peace as you also hammer into work. I think I'm getting a bit better at it- waking up and taking a moment to be glad for life and the things in my life... but it's still a daily practice rather than a daily norm. If that makes sense.
Good week to go everyone!
