Eyes for Halloween

Oh Halloween is almost here! I love this holiday... and yet running so crazy I almost don't even notice it's a holiday.

May you get a knock on the wall, next to your ear. So you know you are not alone...

Wonderful day for a hike!

It's getting to be early winter around here. Got up in the mountains and had a wonderful day. It was very chilly, good day to test out the new winter jacket and other gear. Almost too warm, really.

Fall in Lamoille

Working on my zombie blog; turns out I might be a bit overextended, lol. But here are some fall photos from this weekend in Lamoille.

Isn't it amazing? I think I will try Liberty Pass one last time this year.

This last photos is from near the power house. I just love all the color the Aspens have in the fall. Orange, green, yellow...

Lamoille- Boyscout Camp

I did not bring my good camera this weekend, it ends up taking in the sun too much.

What a lovely fall day!

I am working on a huge painting but this one I don't feel like posting in stages.

Pine Forest Mountain Range

All of our high mountain ranges have a dusting of snow in the peaks right now. This is really a pretty time of year here- but then I love autumn universally.

The Pine Forest range (in the photo) has been up to be named a wilderness area for a few years. No movement in congress on this one. No real fight against it either, that I know of... anyway.

Ranch outside of Denio, Nevada

I think I've photographed this ranch before, around July 4th. I think it is very pretty, the little patch of green and all the cattle.

Just Sketchin' - Teresa of Avila

I listened to a story about Teresa of Avila on my drive. She was a 15th century Spanish nun who reportedly could levitate through her mystical devotion to god. I'm not particularly religious, but I am spiritual- and I found her to be oddly inspiring.

Long Drive- Steens Mountains Pass

Had another weekend of driving. Rambling thoughts:
  • The meaning of Humility, and why would it would be important? (My cousin suggested it is "strength under control." I thought that was a profound definition.)
  • Oh my lord how did that deer stop in time to not hit my jeep?
  • How do I take the experience of working around a narcissist, and not be angry and frustrated? How do I turn it into an experience where I am the kind of person I want to be, kind and giving? Especially given that the inherent nature of a narcissist is to take advantage, do harm, manipulate. I decided that the world for them is so awful, I feel sad for the them. I think it would be good if life could be illuminated to them, so that they could give and receive kindness without doing harm. But I will still keep them at arms length... I mean, you can wish a snake without giving it the opportunity to bite you, right?
  • I noticed the rancher of Roaring Springs Ranch, in quite traditional garb. It's awesome. I am sure they don't notice I drive through every few months. The ranch is pretty, and away from the world. They have quite a few cows. It is nice to watch the seasons change in the area over the years.
  • Seriously? That couple I saw two days ago stopping to eat left garbage? That's unfortunate, it reinforces a prejudice.

A Few Mountain Panorama's

The mountains are all yellow! And I haven't been up to see. Will have to do that soon.

This is one of the best months of the year.

Tonight's Sunset, Battle Mountain

I've been travelling the last couple weekends, so I end up with more photos. I love this one from outside of Battle Mountain this evening. True wildness.

Magic Mountains

The fog in the mountains make me feel like I walk through it into another world. I know, I've said that before. But I always feel that.

Aspen in the Fall

My goodness it's going to be a beautiful year. Look at the color! Aspen trees are so strangely beautiful.

A whole patch of them had started to change. It made me wonder if the group was all one organism (they are linked by their roots).

One of my favorite trees, for sure.
