Snow Falling
Snow falling is so soft and lovely. It was actually blowing a bit the day I took the photo, so the sky was almost blue straight up and it was snowing anyway. It's actually a bit hard. If the camera is too fast, you can't tell it's moving. If it's to slow it looks like streaks and you can't tell it's snow.

No Internet... in town. Crisis over!
Our local internet provider was down for 24 hours. Seriously. I had to email a coworker in a different state to get a form downloaded. Thank goodness I have pals in other states.

Drab or Fab
Winter is at the dark edge, so the snow is covered in dirt and the mud is seeping up around my feet as I walk. I thought my long driving this weekend would lead to many great photos- but it was truly a brown flat view on the drive. There is plenty of water, so we will have a glorious spring with desert flowers popping... but in the meantime is it drab or fab? Probably a little of both. That is going to be the theme of the week.

western way
The great basin version of which road to choose? The road less travelled by, of course. It makes all the difference.

the walk
I really shouldn't squish all these photos together, but they are all from my walk this weekend. Almost every time I go out and wander about, I see the world as it is in the moment. It can be so uplifting and so noir.
Life is both here in this present, and in some other reality in which the other self lives.

weekend artwork
I started messing around with acrylics again this weekend after about a 9 month hiatus. It is weird to feel so awkward in a medium I used predominantly for several years. I feel like I have no control compared to watercolors, and each step seems so slow. I really love that the transition between mediums is such a challenge- I live for challenge.
I went for a long walk today as well, longest in quite a long while. I feel fabulous but worn out. It was especially amazing to see the prints of rabbit and coyote in the fresh snow.

Aspen Leaves in Fall
I was writing about aspen trees tonight, and I just wanted to grab one of my pictures from a couple years ago of trees that had turned yellow.

End of Cowboy Poetry 2013
We had a great time this weekend, ending with a couple shows down at the G Theatre- good stories and good music. At one point we laughed so hard we were crying, second time this weekend. I swear, this town comes alive for Cowboy Poetry.

Cowboy Poetry Weekend In Elko, Feb 2012
It is a great week of Cowboy Poetry so far. I really enjoyed Baxter Black yesterday. A couple people were disturbed by how dark he was, but to me it was very human. And I like dark work anyway.
The Sourdough's Wild & Woolly Revue was the show for us tonight, and boy were we glad. It was hilarious and authentic. They were all really talented... great music, good jokes, not too corny (just right). A couple of times hit that level of laughter that is in the gut and out of control. Loved the saloon piano music too. Great show, really.

I'm enjoying cowboy poetry right now, we have a folklife festival in town. This picture goes with that. Baxter Black was fun last night.
