Winter Night Sky

I’ve been posting less- or not at all- with the advancement of AI. I feel weird having art posted that AI can steal. I recognize I’m a generally unknown — or completely unknown — artist, but I had already found people stealing my work before AI. Isn’t that amazing?

This piece though- I need closure with it! It all started when a local gallery made a call for artwork that referenced a winter’s night. I thought I’d take a go at it and began this multi-month journey (I’m way past the submission deadline).

The biggest struggle was the paint itself — turning this little project into a battle against media and materials. I don’t love how the paint looks upon close inspection, but there are still beautiful passages as I try to communicate the feeling of seeing mountains at night — the absoluteness of the earth and the strange lighting of snow and sky.

Hopefully you can feel what I was getting to!
